My sister-in-law started a food blog. Mostly because she rocks, but partly because I pushed her in the right direction... She is getting famous! Two weeks and she already has 30 followers! Amazing right? Anyway, you can go check her blog out and I will post a link after I am done typing, because I want you to read mine first! :) She is the reason I am starting this blog she pushed me back! We are good for eachother like that.
Anyway, I was reading A girl with a glue guns blog and saw this challenge at seven thirty three and thought of these Robeez type shoes I made for my youngest daughter. I got the pattern from darlingdiapers.com (for free! Just scroll down they are at the bottom) then I went to my local Goodwill and found a black leather coat for 5.00 and cut it up, following the pattern of course! I didn't just cut it any ol' way because that just doesn't work. Then I used paper clips (pins leave holes) and my normal sewing machine with a leather needle. Before I sewed them together I imbroidered the little flowers on with imbroidery floss. I decided to put on a bunch of different colored flowers to match all her different clothes. I cut two of the bottom out and spray adhesived them together with the more suedish (is that a word?) sides out so that the bottom of the shoe had more grip and the inside had grip as well. She just outgrew them :( so now I will have to make a bigger pair for her. :) They are still in great shape and last just as long as the Robeez, but I can make about 6 pair from that one coat! Not a bad deal for 5 dollars. People were constantly asking where I got this pair and it was so fun to tell them I made them! Most people thought they were the Robeez brand!

ReplyDeleteNice! You can buy super cheap leather scraps at St. Vincent de Paul thrift store on Callow in Bremerton. You know, in case you want more than one pair at a time. They have lots of other super cheap crafty stuff, too.
